Raising the Bar On 3D Laser Scanning

Becht Engineering’s Laser Scanning Division Manager, Mike Swymn, was invited to speak at the AVEVA World North America User Meeting on February 1, 2017 at The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center in The Woodlands, TX. There were over 400 individuals in attendance, representing both owner operators and engineering contractors. AVEVA is a technology corporation that provides mission-critical solutions to some of the world’s biggest engineering contractors (EPCs) and owner operators. AVEVA’s world-leading technology was originally developed and spun out of Cambridge University in 1967. In 1976 AVEVA introduced the world’s first 3D plant design system (PDMS) with an object-based engineering database.

Mike presented alongside Fluor on the topic of “Raising the Bar – 3D Laser Scanning”. Becht’s Laser Scanning Division provides end-users work products using the latest AVEVA LFM software. As an additional benefit, the Laser Scanning team provides training on the use of the software to clients – at no additional cost. A portion of Mike’s presentation illustrated the differences between laser scanning products of the early 2000’s and what his team is now producing. See examples below which reflect the differences in how quality has evolved over the years:

Under Mike’s leadership, Becht’s Laser Scanning Division has effectively raised the bar regarding expectations for laser scanning products, across all industries. Mike has worked closely with AVEVA LFM software developers to ensure that state-of-the art technology is created for the division’s use so Becht  provides clients with a work product that will satisfy their needs for years to come. Competitors have attempted to imitate and keep pace. But time and time again clients report dissatisfaction. Most often, clients have called upon Becht to help fix issues with data/work products they received. Becht continues to be the most advanced, capable and experienced provider of Laser Scanning and Dimensional Control products in the industry.
